I am an existing Fido customer and I want to add a tablet plan temporarily (less than 2 years). I don't need a tablet as I have my own. I called 611 and was directed to the Fido website but I couldn't find anything other than adding a plan that forces you to sign 2 years contract and get a new tablet. Could anyone here shed me some light please?

As long as you are an existing wireless customer, you can certainly activate a data only plan on a No term tab. In other words, you'd bring your own tablet.
Having said that, you can only activate a data only plan in store or via customer service.
What exactly were you told on the call?
