I may be travelling to Nairobi, Kenya for work and am considering whether to use Fido Roam at $15/day. I am a post-paid, monthly Fido customer. When I look at the screenshot attached, I see there is also the "Pay per use rates" which I definitely want to avoid. Do I have to choose Fido Roam *or* 'Pay per use'? Or do I simply selected the Roaming option on my phone? Just a sanity check, thank you!
Hello @lhl1 , as a postpaid customer you are already enrolled in fido roaming like home. If you don't want to pay for any roaming, I suggest removing your Sim card and put it somewhere safe and just use wifi as available. If you want to roam, you will get a message on your device welcoming you to the area and that you can use your plan just like at home, for the $15 per calendar day. You only pay for the days you have your phone active. I have turned my device on once per week while I was away to collect sms and to retrieve my voice mail. I only paid for the days I used it. Sometimes it may be to your advantage to pick up a local Sim card to avoid roaming charges and be able to make and receive calls and texts in the country you're visiting. As most Canadians have free international texting on their mobile plans, you could give the international number to people in canada that you wish to have contact with while traveling. Paying per use can add up quickly, so use it sparingly. Just my thoughts and experiences while traveling. Safe travels
