Prepaid By the minute plan and roaming

My phone was not purchased at Fido and I am still on a very old prepaid plan "By the minute - 40 cents anytime plan". I refill my account with voucher every month. 

Can I use my phone when I travel to Japan to make calls and receive text messages?

  Welcome to the community!

 When travelling with a prepaid plan, you'll be using your services on a pay-per-use basis. You can view the rates below:

  You should note that there is no charge to receive SMS messages. In addition, you won't be able to send or receive MMS as roaming data  is not available for prepaid plans.

  Have you verified your phone is compatible with the networks in Japan? Most Countries outside of North America tend to use different bands and frequencies for their networks. You can verify the compatible bands/frequencies for Japan here.
