Porting to Fido from Koodo - change sim before or after

We received the new sim from Fido. We are porting a number from Koodo. Do we insert the new Fido sim right away or do we wait for the text from Koodo and then swap the sim.

We're in the same boat, and decided to plug the new sim in right away. It works with the new number. But now we're stuck trying to follow the "transfer number" instructions that came with the sim: we can't see the new Fido account number in anything Fido sent us, just the last 4 digits.
