Paying off New Phone

I would like to upgrade my phone to the iPhone XR. I see that there is a promotion going on for $0 down on the XL plan, however I'm wondering what would happen if I were to put $200-300 down upfront? Would my monthly payments go down once the phone is paid off (I would like to pay down the phone in less than two years and switch to a BYOP plan)

You can definitely make payments towards the subsidy on your device to bring it down over the course of your agreement, however, this will not affect the price of your monthly plan, nor will it change the length of your agreement. Your contract will remain a 2 year contract and your plan would not change unless you were to request the change of your plan to a different plan.

That said, once the balance remaining on your device has been brought down to $0, you can change your plan to a BYOP plan without any fees for breaking your agreement before the end date.

I hope that clarifies things!
