Is accessing Fido website and app no longer free?

So I remember that it used to be entirely free to access fido website or Fido app even if you had no data. I vaguely remember seeing messages about it like it's on us or something like that.

I recently got a bonus of 20gb free data on my account so I was seeing if I could burn it all up within a month, now I've hit my data cap. I went to access my 5 free hours of data on the app as I have done in the past but I can't access them anymore. It says I have to turn off wifi to get them, which was the case before but when I turn off wifi it says I have no connection and can't access them.

Is there a workaround to this?

You would need a data connection to access the Fido app and the Internet, as for the 5 free sessions, unfortunately, you would need to be on the Fido network with a data connection to access it, there is no workaround. The 5 free sessions are meant to be used before you run out of data.

I see, this definitely did not used to be the case as I've always used the 5 free hours as an emergency fund after hitting the data cap in the past. But if there's no work around to it then there's no work around to it. Thanks.
