how do I cancel my contract with fido? I have moved abroad and no longer use my fido sim anymore however I am still being charged.

You will have to contact customer service in order to get the account canceled. You can reach out to customer service through any of the available methods listed here.
Note: Fido also have a number you can call from abroad free of charge, you can get that number from the link provided above.
