How do I connect my Nokia smartphone to my internet/wifi

I am assuming you have a Nokia Lumia smartphone. In this case goto App list on your Nokia, hit Settings, then hit WiFi, then set Wifi networking to ON which gives you the list of Wifi networks. Connect to your Wifi network, enter password and hit Done.

You can usually set this up through the phone's network settings, scanning for available Wi-Fi and to then enter the proper credentials to connect. If this doesn't work, you might want to try resetting your network settings.
