Hey Community!

Is your device compatible with the Fido network? Yes? Awesome. Now all you need are the right settings in your device.

For the curious, these settings are necessary to access the web and send picture and video messages.

If you’re using an IOS device – follow these steps:

  1. Insert your Fido SIM card and turn the device on;
  2. When asked to activate the device, follow the wizard on the screen to complete the activation. Activation can be done over Wi-Fi (depending on your software version) or by connecting to your computer and using iTunes.
  3. After you finish the activation, your device will be set up properly to use the Internet on the Fido network. Enjoy!

If you’re using an Android device, follow these instructions to add the APN and MMS settings. For any other device, check out the user guide from the manufacturer for instructions on how to add an APN (use the same APN settings shown below).

Note that since there are many different models running Android, some of the names below may vary.

  1. Tap on Settings → Wireless & Networks → Mobile NetworksAccess Point Names;
  2. Once on the APN screen, press the Options button;
  3. Tap on New APN;
  4. Enter a name into the APN Name field.

Here are the APN settings you’ll need to enter in your device:

  • APN: Fido-core-appl1.apn
  • *If you have a LTE device, use the following APN: LTEMOBILE.APN
  • MMSC: http://mms.fido.ca
  • MMS Proxy: 205.151.11.13
  • MMS Port: 80
  • Leave these fields blank: Proxy, Port, User Name, Password and Server.

Press the Options button on your device, tap on Save. The created APN will show up on the APNs screen. To activate it, tap on the radio button located in front of the APN. Restart the device and start browsing!

And there you have it. Need additional support? Check out the Phones and Devices board
