Anyone having issues where signal is strong but for some reason the other side stops hearing you even though you continue to speak; yet no interuption on hearing them?  Or where you or the otherside seems to blip in and out so you miss portions of the discussion?

Curious why that is occuring and how to fix.

Hello PaulL20,

  Welcome to the community!

Sorry to hear you're having issues with your service. Does it happen everywhere or only at certain locations? If you didn't purchase your phone from Fido, have you verified that it has compatible bands/frequencies? You can verify those bands/frequencies here. If your phone is not a Canadian version device, you should note that certain functions (ie voLTE and/or Wifi-calling) will likely not work. If that is the case, voice calling and messaging would necessarily transmit via the '3G' networks.

If your device is not supported for voLTE, that could account for the discrepancy in signal you note. I do understand you note strong signal. However, the different frequencies vary in their physical profiles. One difference is their travel distance and penetrability (see graphic here. Most devices would stand-by in LTE and only switch networks when required. It's possible you note strong LTE signal, but when your device switches to '3G' for calls the signal strength is less.

Hope this helps 😀

Cheers

The issue seems to be periodic.

I'm using a Note 10 that I brought over from Telus so I don't see why there would be any compatibility issues.

Hello again,

Thank you for the additional information. If the device was sold by Telus, it would likely be the Canadian version of the device. If the issue only happens some of the time at certain locations, it's possibly due network congestion at that location. If it happens more regularly, it's also possible there might be an issue with the SIM card (see here).

Hope this helps 😀

Cheers
