I have been with Fido for a long time now; more than 10 years. And never get any free upgrade. I even got my spouse to sign up to Fido and got only 100MB data with the $45 monthly plan.
My friend is new in Fido but as soon as her 2 year plan for $45 monthly expired, she was offered 1 GB at no cost. And she didn't even asked for it.
I call Fido and they want us to pay more if we want to get more data.
Is there a way I can get better service at no added cost?

Our offers change very often, so it is possible your friend would simply have called when we had a plan with the same features and an extra GB.

Looking forward to your message. I really hope we could make some arrangements on this.
I would also consider looking at upgrading my existing plan which has no data at all and add it at the price that my hubby is paying.
Anyway, I would like to know if this is possible.
