You should be able to access the FIDO app even after data has been turned off.

For some odd reason, if your data has been turned off, you can't use the FIDO network, you have to find WiFi to open the app.  

Why wouldn't the app be accessable (only the FIDO app) when you have gone over in order to view your usage, or add more data.

It's really annoying. It's easily fixable. I miss the days when FIDO was better.

  While I don't condone the use of stupid in your replies towards other community members, I don't think what you suggest is possible. Firstly, you might take note of the Fido Community's Guidelines.

  I can understand Kapable-K's comment because your original post was unclear. I think they understood your post to mean that the data setting was turned off on your phone, not because you reached your data allotment limit.

  On the other hand, I believe you feel that the Fido app should be able to continue to use data once your allotment has been used. Unfortunately, I don't think that would be possible. The mobile providers only know usage. In this case, that usage would be data. They don't know what apps or services on your device are using said data, only that data is used. More importantly, they have no control over any of your device's apps or services.

  The only way I can think of which might be able to accomplish what you suggest would be if the Fido App acted like a gate-keeper, similar to VPNs. If all data usage went through the app, it could manage which apps or services used data. In doing so, it could block all other usage while allowing itself access to data. Unfortunately, that is not how the app functions. In fact, I think many people would be upset if all data usage necessarily went through their mobile provider's app (ie privacy concerns).

  Rather than tunnelling data through some sort of gateway, all apps on devices have equal and direct access to data (unless using a VPN or similar service). Any control would be OS-based (ie Restrict Background data setting on Android). If data is sent or requested from your device, the mobile providers do not know what app or service is using data. They cannot only allow data usage from their app. Again, they have no control over the apps or services on your device.

Everything is doable though. It's code and an app.

Fido would make more money if people could quickly use the FIDO app when they have gone over.

I do think the business of fido is stupid. I can say that becase FIDO is not a person.
