Some of you are likely asking yourselves “when are these scam texts going to stop?!” Well, we don’t have the answer to that right now, but what we can do is help you identify a scam.
The new trends seem to be deceitful Interac transfers (remember, we would never send a refund via text) and mobile data bonus’s. Although they do sound enticing, don’t fall for the scam.
Check out this article for tips to avoid being duped by scammers. You can also find examples of what to look out for by browsing through this thread that @Cawtau started. If you receive any, post them in the thread to help others.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU RECEIVE A SCAM TEXT
You can help by forwarding the text to 7726 (SPAM). This will submit the message to be audited and blocked by the network. To forward a text, press and hold on the body of the message, then you should see an option to forward.
