The following could be adopted to improve battery on Android:
1. Minimize data sync frequencies, turn off syncs if not required. Could be done in Settings under Accounts.
2. Turn off GPS when not required.
3. Turn off location settings when not required.
4. Put brightness to half way when not required.
5. Use alternatives to apps that use up a lot of data and stay active in background.
6. Power saving mode - samsung phones.
