I just wanted to update this older thread.
To view the balance left on your current phone, log in to your My Account on fido.ca. Then click on ''Services'' > ''Mobile'' and scroll down.
On the bottom left you'll see ''Next Upgrade''. This is when you can upgrade without any fee. Next to this you'll see ''Ugrade Today Fee''. That is how much is left on your current phone if you want to upgrade today.

All you have to do is log in to your account on www.fido.ca . Then once the page is open click on your phone number under ''Account Balance'' ,this will open a new page! Then go all the way to the bottom of the page and click on '' Upgrade today Fee'' and voila!
