Weird iPhone hiccup

I realize that this is maybe more a tech question, but maybe someone has some insights (I can't find this online, and I will do anything to avoid going to the dreaded Apple Stores).

Suddenly yesterday, BOTH my iPhones stopped accepting a charge.  One I can understand,  two is a weird mystery.  I've tried each with different chargers as well, no luck.

One is a stay-at-home for internet use and the other is my phone on the fido account. So, they are handled differently...not like they both got exposed to particles or dust that blocked their ports, for example. 

I hope someone might be able to help.  Apple Help had no idea.

It's definitely weird to have both stop charging at the same time, I know you mentioned about debris in the charging port but a lot of times just a small amount of lint in there can stop it from making good contact.
