WP7 SMS Timestamp

I just noticed today that all my text message timestamps were 4 hours in the past of the actual time (a 4pm text would be stamped as noon).

After googling, I have found that this is due to Fido/Rogers using non-standard timestamps, and does not only effect Windows Phones. In fact it looks like a common problem that's annoyed countless customers already:

So. When is Fido fixing this?

Constantly broken timestamps are not something I will put up with, and I'd gladly switch carriers to use a network that doesn't try to do its own little thing that's incompatible with the rest of the world.

I have the exact same problem on a Windows Phone 7 device. I've looked around for a solution and none of them are promising. I'm on Fido on a month-to-month and have an unlocked phone -- switching would not be a problem.

Fido techs?

Hello everyone,

There is a fix for Android handsets where you can install an application and the timestamp then shows properly.

Have you already contacted your manufacturer to see if there was a fix for the same situation on Windows 7 handsets?

What was the outcome?

Please let us know Smiley

i am experiencing the same issues. unlocked windows phone that im using with fido SIM card that did not have these same issues with my older fido phone. observations: - incoming SMS messages are 5 hours behind the correct time that is displayed on my phone. - outgoing SMS messages display the correct time that is displayed on my phone. - incoming calls show the correct tins that is displayed on my phone. (shows that this is a problem with the way the service provider is processing/sending the SMS message.) - have looked high and low on WP marketplace for an app that provides a similar fix that android does. have found nothing. - contacted both LG and microsoft about the issue. they have both told me it is a service provider issue. hope this helps with the questions. when will this get fixed if ever?

Hello fuGGet321,

I understand how this situation can be inconvenient to you as well as to our other customers who are using non-Fido devices.

However, please understand that our priorities are to make the Fido products work properly on our network. Also, non-Fido devices are not supported by Fido. Therefore, it is not possible for me to provide you with a date at which the situation will be resolved, if it does get resolved.

oh the joys of unlocked phones. i got told this already with my 2 non fido devices. they are not supported and then they try to swindle u into a new (FIDO) phone. this is an issue cause even tho the phones are not fido phones they are unlocked and can lock onto the fido mobile network and get proper service. so in this case if the phones can do that we should be able to take the phones to fido get them sent off to the fido company and pay to be able to get the phone locked on the fido network so then they can quarentee that the service is going to properly work.
