I just bought an iPhone 15 from Apple and am attempting to set it up myself on an existing FIDO plan. However, some questions arose and I thought I would post them here in case anyone has some helpful suggestions/advice/comments.
Question 1: Should I install the SIM from the old phone into the new before transferring the data or transfer the data first and then install the SIM?
Question 2: Would it be advisable to transfer the SIM info from existing SIM card from old phone to the eSIM of new phone thereby leaving the SIM tray empty in case of travelling to a country where the telecom may not support eSIM and a physical SIM card is required?
Question 3: If #2 is doable then does FIDO need to be involved and would this end up costing me additional fees?
Your comments/advice/suggestions would be most appreciated.
Thanks.

Hello @Piewacket,
Welcome to the Community!
Having the SIM card in the phone wouldn't impact transferring the data over from another and other, so that would be up to you.
I don't believe there is any benefit into storing data in the SIM card as the it is mostly for phone numbers and these are already added in your phone. There wouldn't be any fees with this and you wouldn't need to advise us.
Hope this helps,
