Unlocked phone, need roaming to use data?

Hi,

I have an unlocked phone, and I've just switched to a fido plan which has data.

From what I've read on the forums, due to my unlocked phone,

it seems that the internet will not work unless I set 'roaming with data' on.

I believe this is because my fido sim needs to roam on the rogers network.

If this is the case, then i should not be charged for roaming data while on the Rogers network (assuming I don't exceed my bandwidth), correct?

I haven't been charged for this, I'm just trying to verify this assumption before I start using up my data.

Thanks,

@fombico First of all Fido and Rogers is the same network so there is no roaming involved there.

It is true that some unlocked phones that you may get from different parts of the world or carriers you will have to enable data roaming for the data to work thats because the phone is being used in a country/network it was not setup for.

Don't worry you will not get any roaming charges as long as you are on the Rogers/Fido network.
