Unlocked BB and no data plan

HI i currently have a sony vivaz pro and do not like it at all. I want to get a curve 3G of ebay unlocked, and was wondering if I could use it without haveing to get a data plan?

Sure you can use it, but you would be using it as a Phone Only. There are a lot of feaures of this phone which will be really under utilized if you do this.  For the price you would pay for it and what you intend to use, id say you are wasting money. Why pay for a phone with all these rich features which you wont use? might as well get a cheaper phone which does exactly what u want MAKE CALLS. and it will cost less than the black berry? but really, its up to you

I do a lot of texting which is why I like a phone with a qwerty keyboard, I don't like the  viaz pro cause it is slow and buggy. I don't really need data but i use wifi at work and home, and just buy a week data pass when i out of town or on vacation and wanna use it to stay in touch. but thanks for the info!
