Anyone knows if the LG G3 will work in Japan using a prepaid/rental sim card?

Thank you.

Hi mamamiabb!

Did you get the LG G3 from Fido? If so, you'd need to get it unlocked so you can use it on a different network.

You'd also need to make sure that the phone is compatible with the network frequencies used by your mobile provider in Japan. Here are the specifications for the LG G3:

  • GSM/GPRS/EDGE Bands: 850/900/1800/1900
  • HSPA Bands: 850/1900/2100 MHz
  • LTE Bands: 700/850/1700/1900/2600 MHz

Keep in mind that you also have the option of purchasing a travel pack for your trip. You can check them out here (Zone 3).

Cheers! Smiley

So the LG G3 HSPA 2100 MHz matches the UMTS 2100 band in Japan, right?

Yes, and the provider using 2100MHz is DoCoMo and SoftBank, Ymobile is using 1700MHz.
