Sony Xperia XA- will not connect to data

I was given a brand new Xperia XA.  I have a monthly plan so I inserted my existing SIM in the Xperia.  The phone works fine but whenever I try to access the web it says that it is offline.  I made sure the data is on and I have tried all four Preferred network types with no success.  I tested the SIM on a Samsung S8 plus and my present phone is an iPhone 5 and it works on both.  I asked my kids to try to get the data to work and they were also unable to establish a link to the web.  Is there something I'm missing?  Thanks.

Since you're using a non Fido phone, you'd need to make sure to configure your APN Settings first.
