Receiving calls while out of country

Hi, recently, my phone broke, and i bought a new blackberry 9900 without a plan

However, I am out of Canada right now, specifically in China, and I want to test my phone

The phone is currently on a 3G network, but when i use long distance to call my cellphone (647), it does not go through

Is there a reason for this or does it mean the phone is not working properly? I had a friend text me and i received his sms, plus the roaming notification text from Fido

I'm also not forgetting to add +001 to the front of the number

Is there anyway to test it correctly while out of Canada?

Hi there Epicene,

If I understand correctly, everything is working except calling back to Canada. Did you try dialing +1 before the number?

Ex:  +1 647 xxx - xxxx

you can also try 011 (not 001)

011 is the international dialing exit code for north america destinations. but for europe and asia, its 001 is the exit code since your in china. if your phone supports the + use that instead of the exit code.
