Yes it should. My phone is a year old and lags...
I have been hoping for an update since 4.2.2
Why make and or sell phones if they don't last. I need to update and get my phone going again...

However, I dont think its upto Fido to push out OS updates. I think manufacture supports OS updates for non-nexus phones and Google for Nexus phones. It was announced by Google that KitKat won't be coming to Galaxy Nexus
