New Phone: Refurbished Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G

Old Phone: Refurbished Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G ULTRA

New phone cannot maintain connection to any of the FIDO networks.  Can connect sometimes, but mostly getting "Cannot connect to x,y,z network" messages.

NETWORK OPERATORS choices are:

  1. Fido ("Registering on Fido..." message with 4 green/blue dots for 120+ seconds then either a) "Unable to connect.  Try later." or b) connects briefly, then drops/disconnects while dialing or immediately after a call)
  2. Fido-EXT (unable to connect.  Try later.)
  3. Fido-EXT(unable to connect.  Try later.)
  4. 302131 (haven't tried connecting to this because I get hacked "all the time" and it seems suspicious to me)

Have updated the new phone over wifi, and am currently transferring files/data via SmartSwitch.

Seems like I had trouble getting the Samsung Note 20 5G ULTRA to connect a few years ago, but I don't recall which solution worked (I tried several).

I live near the CANADA/USA border, though not as close as I did when setting up the ULTRA, if that helps.

Any ideas?  Should I just buy a new physical SIM?

Thanks for any help you can share!

Hi @KimAnderson , so you've updated your phone and the software. That's a good thing to do. May I suggest that you try using an esim?  You can do this for free on fido.ca. You will need a stable wifi connection to do so. Just sign into your account, select your number, select change SIM, then Fido will send a verification code, confirm code. Follow the instructions and voila, a new sim for free and then you can let your device automatically select the network. I hope that works better than the old sim, if not call fido support through one of the links listed https://www.fido.ca/support
