I've recently got a new blackberry unlocked phone but when i put the fido SIM card in place, i can make or receive calls but can't use facebook or bbm apps. I always have the following msg : you are currently on a service plan that does not support this application. if you want to use this application , please contact your service provider to upgrade your data plan.. But, a fido technician told me my plan was ok for the blackberry...

Technicians make mistakes too. You can go into a store or call a CSR and have them verify if you have a BLACKBERRY version data plan. Having a regular data plan is not good enough to work on a blackberry.
The minimum data plan offered for Blackberry is the 500MB plan. I have this and it works. There are 2 versions of the 500 MB Plan, one is for smart phones, the other is for Blackberries and smart phones too. Make sure you request the blackberry version when you speak to an agent.
