I'm trying to reply to text messages and I keep getting this message "Maximum limit of applications reached" - anyone know what it means??

I used to have that phone and I found that I had to delete all my texts regularly or it wouldn't work. It never tells you that is the problem, texting just gets slower and slower and then you start getting error messages.
