Huawei P20 Pro Android Pie update cause GPS issues

Hi guys, 

I have updated my Huawei P20 Pro to EMUI 9,0.0.178. After the update, GPS is not working properly. After reboot, the GPS is fine, but once I stopped navigation and start a new navigation, it keeps "Looking for GPS ...". I have tried GPS test app, it just could not get GPS fix. Whenever I need to navigate, I have to reboot the phone. I am wondering anyone is facing the same issue. I have wipe the cache partition but it did not help. I do not really want to do a factory reset. However, it seems that is the last resort I have.

The rollout for the update is from March 19 to March 29 so you should have the update by the 29!

4:40am on the 29th and still no updates.

Has anyone on the P20 Pro actually received that update to fix the GPS yet?

Yes now it came up and downloading. 677 Meg's isn't a small update but I used my free bytes for it.

Updated today to EMUI 9.0.0.213. Tried using GPS few times, so far so good. GPS performs great. Hopefully it resolves this.

5 days after the GPS update,  have to say the GPS appears to be working flawlessly. Here's to hoping it stays this way.

SMR is short for Security Maintenance Release / Security Update.

Is it just me or EMUI 9 is no longer avaible for download once downgraded to 8.1.0?
I had twice notification about availability and then it disappeared and no longer appears under software update.

As mentioned in the solution, Huawei will be implementing a fix for the GPS issue and the roll-out for the new update is expected to start on March 21st 2019.

That said, if you're still unable to find any available updates after downgrading, we would advise you to reach out to Huawei for assistance or to attempt a factory reset.
