How to unlock screen during a call

I have LG Xenon cellphone.  When ever I am talking on the phone, after a few second a message appears on the screen to click to unlock screen.  It gets annoying after every few seconds I have to click on the screen to unlock it.  Is there an option to completely disabled the lock button during a call.  I went to Phone-->Screen Lock time.  I clicked it off, but why I still get a message on the screen during the call to have it unlocked.  Any advise would be helpful.

Why would you want to unlock the phone during a call? The phone automatically locks during a call so that when you press the phone against your face to use it, your face does not inadvertently press any unwanted buttons on the touchscreen. It does not prevent you from continuing the call. It is merely preventative and cannot be turned off.

The setting that you changed was the screen lock timer, as in the time it would take for the phone to lock itself after being left alone.
