Galaxy J7 cannot connect LTE

Hi I have this cell phone (model SM-J10GN) which has a great battery life, as the phone orioginally came from the Phillipines, I cannot seem to connect to the LTE network that I'm currently paying for.

FIDO has the required Networks required to connect to their LTE network. If this due to the LTE network being out of the country phone, is there a way I can get my J7 to connect to the LTE network?

Fido: 700 MHz 1700/2100 MHz 2600 MHz

In the About Phone it says NTC approval is Type-Approved in the Phillipines.

Thanks Guys!

Hello Nutech,

According to the specifications listed on the Samsung website,

  • 2G GSM GSM850, GSM900, DCS1800, PCS1900
  • 3G UMTS B1 (2100), B2 (1900), B5 (850), B8 (900)
  • 4G FDD LTE B1 (2100), B3 (1800), B5 (850), B7 (2600), B8 (900), B20 (800), B28 (700)
  • 4G TDD LTE B38 (2600), B40 (2300), B41 (2500)

That phone has all of the compatible bands/frequencies for the 2G and '3G' networks. With regards to LTE, that phone only has one of the compatible bands/frequencies. I understand some of the other frequences listed appear compatible, however, they are on a slightly different portion of the frequency spectrum. The band information would provide more accurate details of compatibility. You can verify the compatible bands/frequencies here.

While the phone should work on the LTE networks, coverage depends on the corresponding bands/frequencies on your surrounding cellular towers. You can get an idea of your surrounding towers here. Unfortunately, if you are in a location outside of band 7 coverage, your phone will not be able to access the LTE network.

That said, have you tried to enable roaming on your phone? Some devices might think they are roaming when they are not used within their intended market area, even though they use a local SIM.

Have you verified you are using the correct APN? Since the device is LTE-capable, it should be using the ltemobile.apn. You can verify the settings here.

The compatible bands/frequencies you listed are slightly different from those specified on the Samsung website. However, it still only lists one compatible LTE band/frequency.**

Hope this helps Smiley

Thanks fr your response. I've checked the links that you had provided . I am in an area that provides the LTE signal but the phone cannot seem to pick this up.

I went on a website and found Screenshot_20171005-114036.png

Hello again,

You should be aware that phone manufacturers make different versions of the same model of phone for the different markets. The Phillipines version you noted earlier, SM-J710GN, has different band/frequency specifications than the SM-J710M used by the Willmyphonework site in your image. The SM-J710M does have 3 of the compatible bands/frequencies (see here).

When you say that you're in an area that provides LTE, on which bands/frequencies are your surrounding towers using? Not all cellular towers use all of the bands/frequencies.

**edit** For example, if you lived in Kapuskasing, ON, the area has LTE, but not on band 7 (2600MHz).

**edit** Additionally, the Willmyphonework website does not use your actual location to determine the available networks in your area. It only matches phone band/frequency information with network information.**
