Wow! I'm glad to hear that Fido reps are now informing people of what the required bands/frequencies are. All of my previous attempts to find out from Fido resulted in 'we don't know, but you can try a SIM to find out if it works.'
I am not convinced that band 7 (2600) alone will be able to access the LTE network (see some of my previous posts). However, the phone you mentioned should be able to access the network because it also has band 4 (AWS or 1700/2100).
I'm not sure why the phone manufacturer did not list 1700 in their specs even though they list band 4. Maybe the reasoning is similar to why 1700 is not listed in Fido's 'How to' page. There is no unified convention between phone manufacturers and mobile companies for the listing of bands/frequencies. Some groups would say that they should have listed 1700 rather than 2100 because of the confusion with band 1.
Additionally, there have been occasions where some phones have bands that are not mentioned in their specifications. This could be due to the mass production of parts and target markets. It could be more cost effective to use the same part in different phone models rather than to produce multiple market-specific parts. They then could just list the bands/frequences required by those markets. That reasoning, however, is purely my speculation. There is a way of checking what bands your phone can actually access, but I'm not sure how to do it.
With regards to your potential phone, the fact that they mention band 4 would mean that it does support AWS and have both 1700 and 2100 regardless of whether or not 1700 was listed.

There are some versions of the Redmi Note 4G which are compatible with Fido/Rogers' LTE network and other versions which are not. For instance, the version from Singapore is compatible while the version from India is not. I'm sure there are other versions as well. Unfortunately, judging by the specifications listed, the version Wingche had problems with was not compatible with the network.

In order to use LTE, your phone must have one or more of the following bands:
- 700 MHz on Band 17
- 1700/2100 MHz on Band 4
- 2600 MHz on Band 7
Unfortunately it does not look like your Zenfone 2 is compatible with the LTE bands used here, however, you will still be able to access 2G and 3G for voice, data and messaging.

Unfortunately, I do not believe you will be able to get LTE using that phone. Firstly, Fido/Rogers uses FDD so the the 2600 MHz on TDD would not be compatible even with the same frequency. Secondly, the 2100 MHz refers to AWS or Band 4 (1700/2100) rather than Band 1 as suggested on the 'How to' page. I would suspect that a phone coming out of Asia would refer to 2100 MHz as Band 1 unless specifically stating it was AWS compatible for North American use.
That said, check the bands/frequencies that your phone can access. (I'm not sure how to do this, so maybe someone else can help in that regard.) There have been instances where the phones could actually access the proper bands/frequencies even though they were not specifically mentioned in their printed specifications.

That phone would work on the 2G network, but not on the 3G network. Fido/Rogers uses 850 and 1900 MHz for their 3G network.

Before I completely dance around your questions with a less than definitive answer, let me first clarify that the 2100 refers to Advanced Wireless Services or AWS (Band 4; 1700/2100 MHz) rather than Band 1 as suggested on the 'How to' page. This notion is confirmed with the recent launch of Rogers' LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) where they refer to AWS as the 'backbone' of their LTE network. So the frequencies for Fido/Rogers' LTE are AWS, 2600, and 700 MHz.
If your phone only supports AWS, then you should be able to access the LTE network. It is still unclear, however, as to whether or not AWS is required to access the LTE network or not. That is, are 2600 or 700 sufficient on their own to access the network?
If you are hoping to utilise LTE-A, then you would need a LTE-A capable phone as not all phones would be able to function in that capacity even if they had both AWS and 700.

From what I can understand Fido is:
GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSPA+ (850 and 1900 MHz) which means the XT1095 is compatible
LTE (700, 2100, 2600 MHz) which means the XT1095 will only be compatible with one frequency so I will only get partial LTE coverage depending on where I am.

Actually, you're in luck! Fido/Rogers uses Band 4 (AWS) rather than Band 1 as suggested by the 2100MHz listed on their 'How to' page. So you should be able to access LTE via Band 4 as well as Band 17.

hi i have a htc one m8 from bell but its unlocked
i currently have a fido account it seems to work except i seem to have issues connecting to lte
i only manage to get 3g or hspa
this is taken from wireless wave website
supported Modes/Bands
LTE 2100/2600; HSPA 850/1700/1900/2100; GSM 850/900/1800/1900
nm the fido agent who set up my phone entered the 3g setting for the apn
i looked up the lte settings and fixed it
