Blackberry data plan?

Hi, I recently purchased an unlocked blackberry. I put my sim card in and everything works fine, however I was wondering if i would be able to add a blackberry data plan to it. I am in the middle of a contract right now.

I am also wondering how I can update BBM on it.

Sure you can.  Adding data plan will not affect your voice term, but may create a new term called a data term, which is subject to a data early cancellation fee if you remove your data plan before the end of the data term.

Once you add a blackberry data or blackberry personal e-mail / social plan, your bbm will start working automatically.

Like Paolo said, yes you can. I myself added a 1Gb when I transfered my Torch to Fido. Also like Paolo said, be sure that you specify and check afterwards that the person adding the option does not add a data option with a term or else to remove it would cause early cancellation fees, but they do have versions without the term (like I have on my own line).
