Does anyone know if FIDO or Blackberry offer any better warranty service for a $500 phone purchased in Dec 2010 (only 15 months ago!!!!) ....than payout out your FIDO contract for $300 and get a new one.  ???? The phone has a keypad issue (backspace key doesn't work), screen light has stopped coming on, and  it takes 20 minutes to boot up...  !!

$500 Phone ???
The Curve 8520 is an entry level model and was never worth $500!
I really hope you didn't fork out $500 for that model within the last 15 months.
You could buy a refurbed one for under 200, $179.99 actually.
I'm sure it could be repaired by a third party for much less.
I've owned this handset and 20 minutes for boot is crazy, but 10 minutes to boot from a battery pull was common place.

You can always try having the phone sent away for repairs.   its quite possible the repair could cost way less than the 200 fee.  what if they said its 50 bucks to repair? im just saying, cus i dont know what  they  charge but if its 50 id gladly pay it rather than the cancellation or upgrade fees, it will cost u a lot less, maybe thats an option foru
