Activating iphone3GS

iphone 3GS was gifted to me but was bought at netherland. I upgraded it and was now telling me to activate it. pls how do i go about because i cant access anything on the phone again. It comes on, choose language, network and location services but cant access the contents of the phone. Thanks.

If it is locked to a carrier from the Netherlands, you will probably need a SIM from that carrier to activate it. Can the person hat gave it to you mail you a SIM?

it requires connecting it to your computer and opening itunes program. thats it, its that easy
