Firstly, what plan type do you have -- post-paid or pre-paid?
You should note that Fido/Rogers does not have any cellular towers in the area (see here). However, that does not mean that you won't necessarily be able to use your Fido phone in the Yukon. With the roaming agreements, customers are allowed to use other providers' networks as extended coverage (Fido-EXT). That said, you should note that there are some limitations to its usage. For example, the majority of your usage must be on your home network. If you are only visiting the Yukon, that limit might not be an issue. On the other hand, if you are planning on moving to the area, you would likely need to switch providers. In addition, some features might not available in areas of extended coverage. I don't believe the 5 Extra Hours of Data is available in extended coverage (see here).
Unfortunately, I don't think access to extended coverage is available for pre-paid or post-paid Basic plans (see link above and Basic plan details).
It should also be mentioned that areas of extended coverage is dependent on the local infrastructure in the area. If you travel to areas outside of the local cellular coverage, you won't be able to use Fido services in those areas.
Assuming your plan does allow access to extended coverage, your phone should automatically roam for voice and messaging. However, in order to use data, you would need to enable roaming data.
With regards to using your phone in another Province, you should be aware that long-distance charges may apply (depending on plan details). If your plan includes Canada-wide calling, it would not be an issue as Canadian long-distance is included. On the other hand, if your plan includes local or Provincial minutes, you would need to be aware of local calling areas.
Your incoming local-calling area (LCA) is based on the geographical location that is associated with your number. It has nothing to do with your own physical location at the time you receive a call. On the other hand, your outgoing LCA is determined entirely by your physical location at the time of a call, and has no ties to any specific geographical location, other than the one in which you’re standing.
All incoming and outgoing calls are considered airtime. Receiving calls while outside of your incoming LCA is considered LD. Making calls while travelling can either be local or LD, depending on whether the call destinations are within or outside of your outgoing LCA.
