I've been along time Fido customer. (it will be 9 years this year) I would like to possibly get a new phone sometime this year. But I'm not happy that I have a very limited choice of androids to choose from with Fido. I don't want or will need a data plan right now. Other cell phone providers let their customers choose any phone they want not matter what kind of plan they have. Why is Fido limiting my selection? If this doesn't change sometimes very soon I will consider changing to one of these other providers. Its a shame since I've been happy over the years :catfrustrated with fido except for this. :catsad:

You may decide to go with any phone you want. However, in order to have some phones at the reduced pricing, a data option is required. This has been put in place in order to allow us to provide you with a subsidy on those same devices.
You may still decide to purchase the phone at the full price in order to avoid paying for a plan with data.
