Unlocking phone

My S6 died with 5 months left on the contract.  We were going to unlock it for travelling in the next couple of weeks.  We upgraded to a new phone (Galaxy A5).  Can we unlock this new phone?

I'd like to provide an update Smiley

 

We no longer require you to wait 90 days after the purchase of your device. Nowadays all phones sold by Fido come unlocked. For phones sold before December 1st, 2017, we can proceed to the unlocking without any extra charges.

I just bought a samsung s9 from Fido why is it not unlocked

Hey @sueclark-1963,

 

Any devices purchased after December 1, 2017 come either unlocked or will have a sticker with an unlock code on the box if it's an Android.

 

Can you check the box and let us know if you're able to find the unlock code?

@jandg Sorry to hear that your S6 died what exactly happened to it?

 

You can have your A5 unlock through Fido but they require you to have the phone for a minimum of 90 days before they will unlock it and there is a $50 fee to have it unlock also. You can get full info here.
