I have a friend who is travelling in Europe right now, and I was wondering if it would charge me to text him? He said he was getting a roaming plan, if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance

This really depends on your plan. If your friend has a Canadian phone number and your plan includes text messaging to Canadian numbers, you will not be charged anything extra even if he is roaming since you are still sending a text message to a Canadian mobile number.
Unfortunately I can't really confirm anything in direct regards to your account, therefore this is general information assuming you have a plan with text messages to Canadian numbers included.
