Not receiving texts or able to send texts to relatives in the States

I just stitched to Fido and can no longer receive it send texts to family in the US?

What happens exactly when you send an SMS to the US? Does it go through ?

Does this happen with all users? 

Also, just to make sure everything is set up properly, did you set up your APN settings in case you're using a non-Fido phone ? More info here.
