New phone, new plan?

My daughter had a Crackberry.  Just after the warranty was up, it crapped out.  It had enough problems that she couldn't use it the way it was supposed to be used, but luckily enough, we had an old LG phone she could use.

She now wants to buy a new phone from Fido.  Her contract isn't up for another year and she has a standard plan with the Blackberry Social Networking add on that I'm told I can't cancel.

My question is...can she buy just an Android smartphone and keep her existing plan for now, or will I have to change her plan to a smart plan?

Well, that depends. Is she looking to upgrade with a subsidy or just looking to buy a phone full price?

To get a subsidized phone, she'll need to buyout her current term, and then activate services compatible with the phone she is getting. The bigger the plan she gets, the bigger the subsidy.

Or she can simply get a phone full price using her FidoDollars. The BB Social Net. option however is only compatible with BB phones.
