New area code 672 (BC)

672 is supposed to be overlaid on all BC effective 04 May/19. Beforehand, testing numbers are supposed to be in place. Reference NANPA PL-515. Date for test numbers was 01 Feb/19.

Random testing today around 1030pacific yeilded mixed results.

Calling 611 was pointless, as no one understood the problem with a non existent area code.

Prefixes that should work are

610

710

810

580

999

In both -8378 (test) and -2455 (bill) format.

610 failed, "number not assigned"

710 and 810 worked as expected

580 and 999 both routed to voicemail, not the expected recording; that may be a problem on the receiving end, but that is likely best addressed by someone at Fido NOC.

Hey @Hwr778

The area code 672 is not launched yet from what we can see.

Are you experiencing trouble calling an actual number or where you simply making tests with randomly generated phone numbers?

As per my original post, the difficulties are in placing calls to the TEST numbers (672-610-8378 / 672-610-2455).

The area code itself is not active (04 May/2019) but the approved test numbers are supposed to be active from 01 Feb/2019 for network testing.

Thanks for clarifying @Hwr778

We can assist you if you can't call from your phone but we can't guarantee specific numbers are active.

These numbers are not Fido numbers and as such, we cannot confirm whether they are active or can be used. Since the testing is not done through Fido, we cannot provide you with more information on the status of these.

We can assure that the area code will be properly working for actual user when it's launched and assist if there are any issues once we get there. That's not something we can do in this testing phase.

They are not Fido numbers. I can reach them and they are dialable and active from both Telus landline and mobile numbers  (although 672-580 and 672-999 are misconfigured by Telus Mobillity). I have not had a chance to test from other  providers yet.

I do not understand why this is like pulling teeth.

We can only assist you with issues related to your Fido services @Hwr778!

Do not hesitate to reach out to us at these channels if you need support for your fido services.

Oh my literal God, @FidoPhilippe    did you not read any of the prior thread?

I am using my Fido handset, and I am unable to call the numbers specified above, which are, per regulatory documents, supposed to be active and available to be dialed FROM MY FIDO HANDSET.  Where have I lost you in this process?

UPDATE

Tues 26 Feb ... as of this posting, ALL test numbers above complete correctly from my Fido handset. This morning  (about 5hrs ago) they did NOT; something has been fixed.

Problem solved. Thanks All!

Followup: As 672 isn't activated yet, there are only (or should only be!) 10 active numbers in the whole exchange:

672-580-2455

672-580-8378

672-610-2455

672-610-8378

672-710-2455

672-710-8378

672-810-2455

672-810-8378

672-999-2455

672-999-8378

Note -- 2455 (-BILL) "supervises" or picks up, and is a billing test number, 8378 (-TEST) should not supervise/pick up.
