My phone number is sending and receiving other peoples texts

Have had this issue for a couple months on and off, but now it's happened a few times just in the last day.

Me and my friend are having texts show up in our conversation that neither of us have sent. It will look like:

Me: Hey how are you

Boyfriend: Good, you?

Boyriend: can u take me to the nail salon later? [he did NOT send this]

And this keeps happening on both of our ends.

Anyone have a solution? Now I'm paranoid that my texts are being sent to someone else.

In order to help you with that, I'll have to ask you a few questions:

1. What kind of phone are you using and does that phone have the latest software update?

2. Which messaging app are you using (standard, iMessage)
