Changing Fido accounts with the same sim card?

I am nearing the end of my 2 year contract and I want to change my plan to a BYOP plan. 

I am currently under one of my parent's accounts (as an added line) and I want to open up my own account (to become the primary holder of the account, not tied to my parent's account). 

Will I be able to use the same sim card that is already in my phone or will I have to change sims as well since I want to move to my own accoutn?

What you are looking to do is called a transfer of responsibility. 

Your parents would need to contact customer service and let them know you will be taking over the account and get the process started.

You will have to pass a credit check and there is a $45 fee, you will keep the same SIM, plan, and phone number.
