Changed phones, now visual voice mail isn't working

I was using a Note 20 Ultra, but it broke down yesterday so I moved to a Galaxy S22 Ultra.  (It was factory reset before I moved everything over from the Note) Everything seems to be working fine except the visual voice mail is no longer working.  I have the feature activated on my plan and have for a long time.  The only thing that has changed is that I switched phones.  Now, instead of getting a text message with a transcription of the voice mail message, I am getting only a text message informing me I have a voice mail, which of course is not what I want or what I pay for.  I would appreciate any help to fix this problem.  Thank you! @fidosupport @visualvoicemail

Hello Distraction3345,

  Welcome to the community!

Firstly, to clarify, the feature you note is the Premium voicemail-to-text add-on. The Visual Voicemail is app-based and unfortunately did not function very well on android devices. That's why android users were switched to the text-based system.

It's strange that the feature no longer works after switching devices. Since the add-on is text-based, it shouldn't matter to what device the text messages are sent. Is it possible that no actual voicemail was recorded?

That said, you should note these forums are community-driven and not intended as a venue for customer services. We do not have access to customers' accounts and would not be in any position to address your matter. If you would like to verify the proper voicemail service on your line, you would need to contact customer service. In addition, they can also be contacted via Live Chat, Facebook, or Twitter. Those methods can be accessed via the contact page posted above.

Hope this helps 😀

Cheers

In an unrelated move, I turned on mobile data and suddenly it started working.  I am posting this simply in case someone else runs into a similar issue, maybe it would be of some assistance.  Thank you! Smiley

Hello again,

Since the voicemail text messages are MMS, mobile data would need to be enabled.

It should be mentioned that while receiving SMS abroad would not incur roaming charges, any data contained within MMS (incoming or outgoing) would be considered roaming data and charged accordingly. As such, receiving the voicemail-to-text notifications when outside of Canada would likely incur roaming charges.

Hope this helps 😀

Cheers
