Coax in a Surge Protector for Fido Internet

I am thinking about getting the Fido Internet for my room (Family Home Network not strong and I would like to get my own) and I was wondering if plugging the coax cable into one that is in a surge protector would be sufficient.  I am not an electritian, so I am not sure about the differences between the wall socket ones and the ones that are in a surge protector.

Hello @DaDude,

Welcome to the community!

Running coax through the surge protector will cause signal loss a few decibel and depending on the quality, different types of interference from connected equipment if it's not being filtered correctly.

It is more important to make sure the cable system is properly grounded than surge protected.
