Is the $50 returned payment penalty pure greed?

Does it really cost Fido anywhere close to $50 to handle a payment that got declined? Or is this just taking advantage of people not reading the fine-print

Seems like a PR nightmare waiting to happen. It's only a matter of time before enough people struggling financially complain to the press about fido kicking people when they're down. The cute dogs won't save you then

Just like banks they charge nonsufficient funds fees (NSF) when a automated payment doesn't clear or there isn't enough money in your account to cover a transfer or withdrawal. Unfortunately, when this happens there are fees associated to this.
