Phone sending texts as emails

I am having trouble with my phone now sending text messages as emails. On my phone it looks normal, but my contacts tell me that they are receiving emails from me. How do I fix this?

Are you using an iPhone?

It sounds like your Apple ID is activated with iMessage and your (Start new conversations from) is set to your email address, instead of your phone number.

Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and configure the settings to start new conversations from your phone number instead of your email you will have to start a new conversation for the change to take effect.
