Iphone 12 Pro Down payment

I just want to ask regarding Iphone 12 Pro downpayment. I an trying to get a phone from fido but I am confused because my roomate got her phone without a down payment and her monthly for the phone would be roughly $66. But when Im trying to apply for the same phone it would ask me to pay for one time fee or down payment. So I am thinking to get it from Fido or other carriers

Maybe your roommate got the phone when they had a promotion for $0 down on the phone but she is currently paying a higher monthly fee of $66 x 24 months = $$1584 with the current promotion given you have to make a downpayment and the monthly fee is $33.34 x 24 months + $640 = $1440.16 overall you will be saving.
