I have an unlocked AT&T iphone3 that is currently in the US, where it was purchased. Any reason I couldn't put my Fido sim in this phone and get 3G. I'd like to know before I get it shipped.

As long as it is truly and properly unlocked, yes it will work fine on Fido. The only thing that might now work immediately is Visual Voice Mail, but I think they can just manually add your IMEI to their system to get that working. If it is actually locked, then you'll have an iPod.
