Recently, I ported my Koodoo number to Fido, and got a phone on that number. But now I want to return the device and plan within 15 days satisfaction period.
My concern is what will happen to my phone number when I return the package (phone and plan) ? Will my number port back to koodoo and my old koodoo sim will activate or what else will happen?
Thanks,
MS

Hello Msbahia,
Welcome to the community!
Sorry to hear you are not satisfied with your device. I understand you are considering returning the device within the satisfaction period. However, are you thinking of keeping your services with Fido?
For a while now, Fido has provided devices with their Payment Program. With the new program, device financing costs are separate from plan costs. If you return a financed device (or purchased outright), your plan (and phone number) would continue.
On the other hand, if your choose not to continue with Fido for services, I believe you would need to port your phone number to another provider before your Fido services cancel. I don't think your phone number will revert back to Koodo. However, there may be timing concerns. Porting your phone number to another provider would automatically cancel your Fido services. If that happens prior to your returning the device, it could trigger the system to charge you for the full remaining balance of the device (assuming device financing).
I think you would need to first return the device and then port your number out to another provider. If you return your device and cancel your services at the same time, I'm not sure the other provider will be able to port-out your number. The porting process needs an active line (see here).
